Offleash play makes for happy dogs; happier dogs are better-behaved dogs

Looking for a dog park, beach, etc. in a specific location? Want advice on starting a dog park? Don't e-mail the ring mistress - read on!

If you are searching for dog play areas or want to start one of your own, take a good look at Dogpark.com. They are a repository for much useful offleash area info. They keep track of dog parks in the U.S. and Canada and have an extensive list of those.

Another directory can be found at the similarly named The Dogpark.com.

Yet another directory of offleash areas is the Dog Fun Directory, one of the sites in this ring.

Here's a page called "Where Can I Take My Dog To The Beach?"

If you are looking for a DC Metro-area park, use this very comprehensive page: MetroPets Online Yellow Pages

If you are looking for areas in California specifically, try here: California Dog Parks and Dog Beaches

Jerre Johnson is trying to get San Mateo County, CA to dedicate some of its parks and beaches as "dog friendly". She's aiming for 50,000 signatures but has a long way to go. Please go here to sign the petition!

It also helps to surf through the different sites in this ring to get an idea of what's out there. We have a small number of international sites as well as many in the United States.

As it says above, please do not e-mail the Ring Mistress asking for extensive information on how to start a dog park, what the liability issues are, what arguments a governmental organization might make against starting a park, etc. That information is readily available from various of our member sites.

Thank you for your interest!

Need help with a dog park incident? Need other information you couldn't find on our site or within our ring?

If your dog has been attacked while at a particular offleash area, you should exchange information (phone number, address, dogs' vaccination and/or license information) with the other handler(s) whenever possible. You should contact the group in charge of maintaining that area and/or your vet and/or local authorities. This ring is informational only and does not get involved in mediation. You are certainly welcome to use this ring to search for contact information for the aforementioned groups/organizations.

The Mistress is the ring coordinator. She has read a lot about dog parks and has worked to get dog parks near where she lives, but the Mistress is not an animal expert, a lawyer, or a politician.
